This material has been incorporated into my book
Common behavioral quirks, including the endowment effect are often thought to be inconsistent with the assumptions of neoclassical choice theory (CT). This has led many of us to the conclusion that CT theory is flawed beyond hope. (Of course, this beyond-hope view is held more by psychologists and neuroscientists than by traditional economists.) Beyond hope too strong and not sufficiently nuanced, the specifics are the topic of this paper.
